The mission of Neighborhood House of Calexico Is to follow God’s calling to love On another-to bring together Individuals and resources, To provide leadership, to advocate for Community betterment To meet the needs of the less fortunate And give voice to individuals Who would otherwise Remain invisible and silent.
Neighborhood House of Calexico, Inc (NHC). is a 501(c)3 private nonprofit agency located at 506 E Fourth Street in Calexico California. NHC has been operating continuously as a community center and social services agency since 1938. It was established in 1938 as a settlement house to assist and work with residents of the border community.
Related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, NHC, provides a comprehensive array of direct services in the areas of child day care for working parents, case management, parent education, shelter for homeless women and children, emergency food and utility assistance, micro business support, advocacy and English classes.
To fulfill its mission, NHC, delivers direct services and engages in social action, always mindful of the principle of self determination and the value of human beings as children of God. NHC was established in response to the need of women and children in a community with high unemployment, low educational level and large population of immigrants employed in under paid and minimum wage jobs. NHC serves people in need in the Imperial Valley, with special concern towards the needs of women and children
NHC receives financial support from individuals, foundations, the United Methodist Church and several government agencies.
