South Florida Community Development Coalition

Miami Beach, FL

South Florida Community Development Coalition’s mission is to expand the capacity of community development practitioners to develop affordable housing and economic opportunities for Miami-Dade County’s low and moderate-income families and neighborhoods.

South Florida Community Development Coalition (SFCDC) is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to building communities and developing assets in Miami-Dade County. We achieve these goals through expanding the capacity of community development practitioners to develop affordable housing and economic opportunities. We represent over fifty members — non-profit developers, lenders, businesses, and individuals — who work to provide low and moderate-income people with access to the tools necessary to build wealth, and to ensure that all neighborhoods are livable, safe, and economically vibrant.

SFCDC provides capacity building and policy advocacy services to community development practitioners in Miami-Dade County. Our capacity building work includes one-on-on technical assistance, group training, and business development through our franchise restaurant initiative. Our advocacy work focuses on preserving and expanding local, state, and federal funding sources for community development and monitoring the use of these funds.

SFCDC's strategic objectives

  1. Provide training and capacity building opportunities to community development practitioners.
  2. Advocate for public policies that improve the capacity of non-profit community development organizations to provide housing and economic opportunities for low and moderate-income families and neighborhoods.
  3. Advocate for public policies and systems that improve housing and economic opportunities for low and moderate-income families and neighborhoods.
  4. Establish a forum in which community development practitioners can share information and form partnerships to enhance outcomes for low and moderate-income families and neighborhoods.
