WHITE HOUSE AND FEDERAL OFFICIALS CONVENE IN MCALLEN TO ADDRESS BORDER ECONOMIC CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
MCALLEN, TX (July 23, 2011)—Don Graves, Executive Director of the President’s Council on Job’s and Competitiveness joins U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Deputy Assistant Secretary for Grants and Programs, Yolanda Chavez and U.S. Department of Agriculture, Acting Deputy Under Secretary, Judith Canales on Tuesday, July 24 at NALCAB’s 5th Annual Border Summit. WHO: Executive level asset-building practitioners, public policy makers and funders from around the region and the country will meet in McAllen, Texas.
WHAT: NALCAB’s 5th Annual Border Summit, Pathways to Sustainable Communities will bring together top federal officials with regional asset building professionals to address the Border Community Capital Initiative recently announced by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI) which provides up to $200,000 in grants to nonprofits supportingcolonias and economic development initiatives in the Border region.
